Bent, George, frontiersman (April 13, 1814-Oct. 23, 1847). Born at St. Louis, he joined his brothers, Charles and William, in the fur trade in 1832, helped constrict Bent's Fort on the Arkansas River, then built Fort Lookout (Fort St. Vrain) on the South Platte.
